Providence Presbyterian Church is governed by the principles of the Holy Scriptures and by the form of government of the Presbyterian Church in America as provided in the Book Of Church Order. The Book of Church Order provides for a Pastor(s), or Teaching Elder(s), Ruling Elder(s) and Deacon(s). The Elders make up the Session, which, with inputs from the congregation, leads the Church in its operation. Because Providence Presbyterian Church is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Corporation, incorporated in the State of New Mexico, the incorporation laws require the Church to have a Board of Directors and corporate officers. These board members and corporate officers serve at the pleasure and direction of both the Session and the Congregation.
